Remember the orphaned baby rhino Gertjie? He has a new BFF, a little lamb

Last June, Critter Files told our readers labout how Gertjie was so grief-stricken after his mother’s death that he couldn’t sleep alone.

Gertjie was rescued by the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in Pretoria, South Africa at the age of three months after his mother was killed by poachers.

Since then the Centre has provided regular updates on Gertjie including this one below:

Now the latest update has us wishing we could have a rhino and a lamb in our backyard.

This new video from the centre shows Gertjie behaving suspiciously like a lamb, hopping on all four legs like his BFF, a merry-making critter name Lammi.

Assistant curator Karien Smit said the video shows the relationship between the two critters.

It is a perfect example of the cute way that Little G and his sidekick Lammie interact with each other. They are a very special pair!”
