Cows on the lam from an abattoir had police in hot pursuit in St. Louis today. The great escape was documented live by media outlets, onlookers and city police.

Farm Sanctuary, which says its counterproductive to pay for the release of the cattle, wants the public to contact the slaughterhouse to urge it to hand over the animals to a safe haven.
