The principal of a Louisiana Catholic school has resigned after being arrested at a strip club in Washington, D.C. on a field trip and sources say the visit to the establishment was with his service dog.
A spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge confirmed late Friday that Michael Comeau, head of the Holy Family Catholic School in Port Allen, was arrested Thursday at Archibald’s Gentlemen’s Club. The club is just a short walk from the White House, according to media reports.
“The Diocese of Baton Rouge confirmed (Friday) that Michael Comeau, principal at Holy Family School in Port Allen, was arrested on May 30 while on a school-sponsored trip to Washington, D.C.,” said diocese spokesman Dan Borné in a statement.
Borné’s statement said the students weren’t with Comeau at the strip club.
The incident occurred when the students on the trip were in their hotel rooms for the evening under the supervision of other chaperones,” Borne said in the statement. “Mr. Comeau had been principal of Holy Family School for five years and prior to that time had served in public education in the surrounding area.
Comeau, 47, was charged with public intoxication and possession of an open container of alcohol after he was accused of refusing to pay his bill.
A bizarre addendum to the story now has sources telling news outlets that the principal had a service dog with him. Where is the dog?
