VIRAL VIDEO: Lonely bear cub climbs up tree to meet hunter

So far this video has racked up almost 4 million views in a few short days.

It shows 14-year-old David Grunow sitting in lookout in a tree and calmly observing as a bear cub climbs up to investigate it.

Grunow was with Mark White, a family friend who was teaching the teenager about hunting.

We always know, when we go in the stand, if the bear comes up the tree, stay calm,” White, who has hunted for 45 years, told Global News on Monday. “Show respect.”

It was Grunow and his sister’s first time accompanying White, who has hunted for 45 years, to a bear hunt.

White told Global News that he had talked to the youngsters about the plan of what would happen if bears approached and how to react when the bear started climbing up..

When the cub went back down the tree, we just stayed and watched them.”

White said there were also other bears in the area at the time.

“It was something that could have gone terribly wrong, but didn’t,” White said.

Smith Game Calls, a hunting company in Alberta which sells supplies, posted the video.

Hats off to Mark White for keeping this situation under control. 14 year old davin sure kept his cool, he will be telling this story for the rest of his life.

As for anyone who disagrees with the way Mark handled this situation, there is more to the scenario than what is captured on video so lets keep the post debate free.

So far more than 10,000 people have commented on the video with most applauding the young man for staying so calm.
