Oklahoma animal shelter goes viral with dogs ready to protect against alien invasions

The Oklahoma Animal Welfare Shelter wins the Internet for an imaginative and darn creative post on getting good homes for those very good dogs who can protect people from alien invasions.

In just a few days, 22 dogs found homes, including two of the dogs who were dressed up in hats.

“Come storm our shelter,” read Natalie Winfree’s post on the shelter’s Facebook page. “We have great animals ready to protect you from the Area 51 aliens. Adoption isn’t that far out of this world! #Stormtheshelter”

The adorable photos were soon shared nearly 10,000 times on Facebook. Lady, the dog in the middle, is the only one who hasn’t been adopted yet. Hurry up people before the aliens take her.

Winfree she always tries to latch onto viral moments to help out her furry friends, but has never had a post do this well.

“I feel really humble, and I feel like I’ve actually done some good,” says Winfree. “We had 22 adoptions yesterday, which is fairly high for a week day. Adoptions start everyday at noon, so I haven’t seen today’s results yet, but it does seem to have helped a little bit.”

Can’t adopt? Help the shelter out with a donation.
