Newborn clouded leopard squeaks, sleeps his way into our hearts

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to the cutest thing under the sun.

The Florida facility is caring for a newborn male clouded leopard kitten. Born March 7 and weighing in at just 300 grams, the still unnamed cat has now more than doubled his weight to 760 gram, and is easily winning hearts around the world.

“His eyes are completely open and he is becoming more alert,” the zoo said in a statement this week. “He has started to crawl (or scoot) along using his front legs, and should be strong enough to move steadily on all four by one month of age. He is very vocal, particularly near feeding time which occurs approximately every four hours.”

Adorable Alert: You are getting sleepy, very sleepy. Your eyelids are getting heavy, so heavy you can’t hold them up. #CloudedLeopard #Kitten

Clouded leopards are the smallest of the “big cats.” The endangered species eventually grow to between 30- and 50-pounds and stretch over five feet long, including their tails.

This cub will hand-reared by the zoo’s vets for the first three months of his life.
