Meatless Monday: Luxembourgh becomes tenth EU country to ban fur farms

There are no known fur farms currently operating in Luxembourg and now thanks to a new animal rights law there will never be as the country became the tenth EU nation to ban fur farms.

The new animal welfare bill prohibits the unnecessary killing of any animal and provides strong protection, according to the country’s Agriculture Minister. ,

[It] innovates, modernizes, brings more rigor and precision [to the country’s animal rights laws].”

It is widely expected that Sweden, which is currently investigating its fur farming industry, will be the next country to ban fur farms. Norway shut down all its farms earlier this year and plans to be completely fur farm free by 2025.

Germany and the Czech Republic banned their fur farms in 2017.
