Las Vegas gambling tables are known for hosting whales, the term for a a big gambler, but a different swarm descended this week when grasshoppers arrived outnumbering humans.
Thousands of grasshoppers swarmed the Las Vegas Strip as surprised tourists looked on.
The winged insect is common in the Nevada dessert and this is the time of year when they move northward.
But even though grasshoppers are expected, there are more this year than usual because Nevada has had heavier rain fall this season. It’s been the third-wettest January to June on record for the state.
