Cairo zoo accused of painting a donkey to look like a zebra

Mahmoud A. Sarhan thought something looked a bit off during a recent visit to Cairo’s International Garden municipal park.

Really off.

He saw, and snapped, not your usually looking zebra — or donkey.

Of course the story has been picked up around the world.

Because, you know, not a zebra.

At least not your usual zebra with a black muzzle, smaller ears and black stripes that aren’t smudged.

That from experts around the world — and, well, common sense.

The zoo in the Egyptian capital denies the allegations.

Zoo director Mohamed Sultan telling local radio station Norum FM the animal is not a fake.

Who’s the ass now?
