For now, Quilty is on parole.
Quilty, of course, is Houston most notorious jail-breaker. The 6-year-old cat has made quite a name for himslef at Houston’s Friends For Life animal shelter.
“Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room,” the facility explained. “Repeatedly. Several times a day.”
And so, Quilty was moved to a more cat-proof room.
Solitary confinement, if you will.
He even tried to escape through windows.
But this week, he started a week-long trial with a family hoping to adopt him.
So far, so good.
“He is doing really well,” according to the family. “He hasn’t tried to hide at all and loves to be in the bed or on the couch snuggled up with one of us.”
And what about the escape act?
“He hasn’t shown any slickness at all yet,” the facility shared via the potential adopters. “He is the most loving and affectionate cat I have ever met!”

All the attention is giving the shelter the chance to remind people, there are lots of other cats looking for their forever homes, too.
In a way, maybe Quilty’s reputation will help free them all.
